Wednesday night and we’re still waiting. And finding things to do...
We celebrated baby’s due date by attending a sauerkraut party. 🎉 It was so fun and now I know how to ferment cabbage...which was totally new to me. This was the last official thing on the calendar so baby can come now! 🥰
I had to ask all the kids, “who keeps putting rocks in the fridge?” Elias replied excitedly, “Meeeeeeee!” “Why?” And he looked at me perplexed like, “why not?”
Gotta admit I’m not super into preserving the harvest this year. But Rory is, and I love what I see coming out of my kitchen!
We went for a suppertime picnic nearby and it felt like a mini vacation. A good reminder that getaways don’t have to even be overnight trips. I got on the zip line to see if that might get things moving. I was moving, but was a low-rider! The next morning Hattie looked at the calendar, saw the due date and said, “Ok! Next Saturday the baby is coming!” I so appreciate how definitive she was- because these days surrounding a due date are such a struggle for me. It could all start any moment- and yet, probably not. But it could! And on and on the mental mind game goes. Patience is the prayer around here...mostly for me, and therefore everyone around me...
Second cutting is in the barn!

It has been the most lovely fall. Most of my memories of ripping out the garden include snow flurries. But not this year! Glorious days have been plentiful and we…

For dinner I roasted a chicken. It was too big for the roasting lid to fit, so I covered it with foil and gave it an extra hour. With the…

Spring starts with a bang around here—planting seeds, preparing beds, mulching and weeding. Throughout the summer we enjoy fresh greens, ripe strawberries, and the incomparable BLT (with our own bacon and…
