We had a glorious day for the Mother Daughter Day Camp, and I am left feeling so grateful for the gift of gathering together. All that I had programmed was good and went well, but my favorite moments of these days is always after the organized stuff is over and everyone hangs around to talk and share dreams and hopes and especially when I find a new friend who also milks goats each morning with her kids. Mothers are remarkable and it was a joy to have a set-apart time today for moms and daughters simply to enjoy each other.
I wanted to show the hand pump we use to milk our goats. The first year I milked into a bucket and loved it, but this contraption means the milk is always contained while we’re in the barn. I think this is our third year using it. Then we come in the house to filter the dairy. We’re one week in and milking is going well. Rory still has to come and help hold the kickers- and then a kid to feed the corn. Today it was Elias. 😊
5:40 the post office called, “your chicks are here..” and the day was off. This is one of my very favorite mornings of the year. And one of the noisiest. 🐥 🐥 🐥
We got something in the ground!!! This is one of our latest springs ever, but today, on May 1, the onions are in. 🎉
Elsie and Hattie Ingalls Wilder are back for spring, foraging pine cones, pretty stones and tree bark.
