January on the Farm

Rory’s cousin from California is a school teacher and asked Ivar to make a Christmas Book of Fun for her class, filled with word finds and comics. We got excited about sharing our experiences of winter with this class and asked if our kids could be penpals with her school class. We loved the idea of our kids telling of their days, from their perspective. The activities are so varied and change every season.

Becca came up with the idea of filming a short video each month to show what the kids do from day to day. We took this video in one day, a day that began overcast, led to snow and ended with sunshine. A really cool day that showed all sorts of winter weather!

Here is the first penpal video, hope you enjoy!

What a great idea to have penpals with your cousin’s class in California. I love it and we loved seeing all the chores you do each day even if it’s
cold. California kids have no idea what that’s all about. GOOD JOB!!! Fresh eggs and all those wonderful veggies and good meat straight from the
Grovestead Learning Farm. You have all been given an unbelievable education right from the farm. Hope to visit you, maybe in the fall. Can’t wait.
